San Francisco, CA – The 150th anniversary of the San Francisco Italian Heritage Parade will take place this October 7th, 2018, to coincide with Italian Heritage month. Started in 1869, this parade is one of the oldest celebrating Italian culture and the contributions of both native Italians and Italian-Americans to America and the Bay Area. The 150th parade will start at 12:30 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018, in Fisherman’s Wharf as tradition dictates, and proceed down Columbus Avenue, ending at Washington Square Park.

The San Francisco Italian Heritage Parade is the longest continuously running Italian Heritage Parade in the United States and celebrates the accomplishments and culture of all Italian-Americans. The inaugural parade took place in 1869 in San Francisco’s downtown, featuring the bands and marching units of Italian fraternal organizations, including the Garibaldi Guard, Swiss Guards, and Lafayette Guards. Throughout the years, it has remained a sign of the vitality of the Italian communities in the Bay Area.
